Vacation: Day 7
Thursday, October 2, 2009
Chris & Katie left this morning. How sad to see them go. I think they enjoyed just kicking back
and relaxing for a few days ..... they are always so busy back home. Maybe next year they'll stay for at least a week.
Today was a bit of a bust for me ..... remember my comments regarding how quickly I seemed to burn while in the sun this year? Well, I awoke this a.m. with a horrid rash of hundreds, nay, thousands, of little bumps on my arms, hands and lower legs. Both of my feet were very swollen, my poor toes looked like tiny Vienna sausages. Along with the swelling, petechiae was present. WTF? First, I thought it might be a rash from the pool - heavily chlorinated water had caused problems before. But, why the swelling of my ankles and feet? Congestive heart failure? LoL But, it was obviously sun related, as the areas involved were only places exposed to the sun. I checked my daily meds and sure enough .... one stated to avoid direct sunlight. Great. Two weeks at the beach and stay out of the sun.
Needless to say, I felt pretty lousy and really didn't do too much of anything all day. A good day to catch up on laundry. blech.
Jeff & Carrie were doing the tourist bit, visiting the sights of the island. They returned with a care package for me consisting of Benadryl and Sonny's barbeque.
Such was my day.

Some pics by Jeff from around Hatteras Village.

The The Outer Banks Official Travel Guide for 2009 has been published already. Very handy for planning your trip or just to peruse if you are "islandsick."

I've been working on this blog page - I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I've added a slide show of Alexa and her hunt for Blackbeard's treasure from last year. Also, books I've been reading - click on a title and you'll be redirected to the author's web site. There's now a link to an Ocracoke journal maintained by Mr. Howard of the Village Craftsmen.

Don't forget to vote in the poll! And, hey, if you're reading this, leave a comment now and again. Sometimes I wonder if I'm playing to an empty house.
